My First Business / module 2 of 3
Market Day: Selling to Strangers
The venture leaves the family circle: the child sells at a pod Showcase Saturday or neighbourhood stall, learning what real customers do.
Guide
Family customers buy from love; strangers buy from value. Prepare the child for both outcomes: 'Some people will walk past. That is not about you; that is every shop in the world.' Practise the greeting, the price answer, and the thank-you-anyway. Afterwards, count together: how many people stopped, how many bought, and what the difference tells us.
Material
- Stall setup checklist and price sign template (platform library)
Activities
Prep: make a price sign and arrange the display for the stall. Sale day: two hours at a pod event or gate-front stall with a parent nearby but not in front. Review: the stopped-versus-bought count and one improvement for next time.
You will need
A small table or cloth, the price sign, products from module one, and a money box.
Check yourself
Child completes a selling session with strangers, handles at least one rejection politely, and states their stopped-to-bought ratio.
