Profit Decisions: Spend, Save, Grow

By OSH Founding Team✓ Verified by OSH Review Panel

With real profit in hand, the child faces the entrepreneur's eternal question: enjoy it, keep it, or put it back into the business?

Guide

Lay the profit on the table in three possible piles: spend, save, and reinvest in more materials. Do not steer; ask questions instead: 'If you buy more card, what happens next month? If you spend it all, what happens?' Whatever they choose, honour it and revisit the result in a month; the consequence is the teacher, not the parent.

Material

  • Three-choice decision sheet with space to record the reasoning (platform library)

Activities

Decision evening: allocate the profit and write one sentence of reasoning. Follow-through: execute the choice, including the shopping trip if reinvesting. One month later: compare what happened against what they predicted.

You will need

The child's real profit from earlier modules.

Check yourself

Child makes an allocation, states a reason, and one month later explains what the choice caused in their own words.

Learn with AI

For the parent or teacher

A coach that helps you prepare, deliver, and troubleshoot this lesson.

How to set this up in ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude
ChatGPT: Open ChatGPT → press your profile → My GPTs → Create a GPT → paste the prompt into Instructions → name it after the module → save for repeated lessons. Or simply paste the prompt at the start of a new chat.
Gemini: Open Gemini → Gems panel → New Gem → paste the prompt into the instructions box → name it after the module → save. The Gem stays available for every study session.
Claude: Open Claude → create a Project (or a Skill in Claude Code) → paste the prompt into the project instructions → every conversation in that project becomes a tutoring session for this module.

Safety note: children under 13 should use AI assistants together with a parent, and account age rules of each platform apply.
